The Paradigm Shift "Gear Up!" is an initiative to help graduates from colleges to make a smooth transition into the corporate world. The 'employability gap' that all industry leaders keep talking about, is essentially the lack of 'soft skills' among college graduates today. A recent study by a reputed Indian University has revealed that 85 percent of jobs and promotions happen based on the candidate's attitude and only 15 percent are based on technical skills.
Keeping this in mind, we have formulated an interesting course outline comprising role plays, simulations and activities, with the help of some of the best trainers in the industry.
"Gear Up" comprises of the following sessions:
Resume Writing
In today's competitive world a well presented résumé can make a lot of difference. A good résumé should catch the attention of the recruiter, and make him want to contact you for an interview. This essentially is the first step to help open the doors of any organization.
The module on Resume Writing helps participants to
- Recognize their strengths
- Build their résumé
Handling an Interview
Facing an interview is more of a skill than a mere display of knowledge. This program looks at all the ways that one can personally maximize the chances of succeeding at interviews.
The module will help participants deal with the 3 stages of an interview -
1. Before
- Prepare a powerful personal statement
- Identify different questions that could be asked
- Practice how to deal with them
2. During
- Explore the ways to make a positive impression
- Examine body language and discuss steps to improve it
3. After
- Discuss questions that need to be asked towards the end of the interview
- Explore ways of dealing with rejection
Group Discussion
Group discussion is an important dimension of the job selection process today. As any job requires employees to work with others, organizations today are interested in team players rather than individual contributors - even if the candidates are excellent performers by themselves.
This module aims to help participants develop group discussion skills.
Building Confidence
Many students are so nervous during an interview that they come across as being withdrawn. This could translate into a lack of self-confidence or interest for the position, to the interviewer. Our workshop helps build confidence, by focusing on enhancing
- Body language
- Voice and posture
- Confidence
Most employers mainly look for the 3 C's in an employee- Credibility, Confidence and Capability. On completion of this program, a participant will be well equipped to face an interview with a powerful resume and self confidence to match.
